When we first came across the wonderful Botanical Trader products – plant therapy for the mind, body and soul – we were very impressed with their philosophy and ethos. We are thrilled to have the opportunity to review some of their organic, wild crafted oils and essences, sourced from the pristine Snowy Mountains.
In a world of unprecedented uncertainly, taking care of ourselves is not only desirable but essential. Being in a perpetual loop of nervous system dysregulation created by uncertainty and stress takes a big toll on the body and mind, depleting our resources, resilience and our ability to adapt. Our capacity for rational thought and decision making also takes a hit. If this is sounding familiar, please read on.
One of the most grounding and calming ways to help slow down our system, is to engage in self-care rituals. As the physiology is attended to, the mind also responds. We often think of such rituals in terms of preparing for sleep and relaxation, which are very important. Other, often overlooked rituals are those at the beginning of the day, setting intentions, awakening, and invigorating the mind to welcome and prepare for the day ahead.

Our usual morning ritual was very much enhanced by using Botanical Trader products specifically formulated to energise. This includes the cleansing and enlivening Alpine Mint Bush and Wild Rosemary organic body wash, leaving the skin feeling squeaky clean along with a sense of awakening, as a result of inhalation of the aromas of eucalyptus and peppermint. This was followed by an ‘Awaken and Uplift’ aromatherapy body mist ritual. This mist has been infused with carefully chosen wild crafted botanicals, blended with essential oils, designed to capture the healing potential and natural vibrational imprint of nature. We followed the recommended ritual of spraying the mist, beginning at the crown of the head and moving towards the heart, whilst taking gentle breaths, contemplating the connection of mind, body and soul, smiling with a sense of gratitude for the time and attention offered to ourselves to nourish and replenish. This also provided an opportunity and invitation to be fully present to the experience, helping to regulate our nervous systems.
In addition to this, we also trialled the organic face and body sugar scrub, intended to be used two to three times a week, leaving the skin feeling smooth, soft and invigorated. The scrub is both gentle and hydrating using wild harvested, ethically sourced coconut oil, along with extracts of rosemary, peppermint, rose and lavender.

It is the emphasis on self-care, as well as the purity of ingredients used, that makes Botanical Trader an essential part of your wellbeing toolbox.
