For those of you who have been to Byron Bay, you will know it is absolute heaven for health foodies. For those of you who haven’t… You must! There is certainly no shortage of raw cake and green smoothies – very fitting with the natural Byron Bay lifestyle.
Sophie (@coconutandbliss on Instagram) and I had a very relaxing and rejuvenating stay, keeping ourselves busy with a long list of must-try cafes. I have to say, we were pretty successful in ticking them off! I wanted to share my favourite places with you all (Sophie and I were very much on the same page with these top-picks.) I’ve included some vegan day time cafes as well as some of my favourite dinner spots – all of which have lots of healthy options.
As well as trying out just about every health food cafe in town, we also really enjoyed soaking up the Byron culture – walking barefoot just about everywhere, swimming in the beautiful waters at Wategos beach and of course, buying a few tie die tees, anklets and rainbow beach dresses… just the essentials, really.

Folk
Despite not being particularly close to where we were staying, we managed to fit in a few trips to Folk cafe. The food is wholesome, delicious and beautifully presented and the cafe has a very authentic ‘Byron Bay’ feel. There are several vegan options (without being strictly vegan) as well as several gluten and dairy free options. If you’re there in the Summer I would recommend trying one of their salad bowls or Summer poached eggs (as pictured).

O sushi
OSushi is a great dinner place for lovers of Japanese food. It is an award-winning restaurant that is renowned for dishing up healthy, authentic Japanese food. We love their brown rice and avocado sushi, vegetarian gyozas, as well as their teriyaki tofu served with a tahini dressed side salad.

Combi
Agreat spot to get your acai fix. They also have an amazing selection of raw treats, smoothies and they do a mean almond mylk piccolo.

Asia Joe’s
Asia Joe’s is conveniently located, about 100m from the main beach and serves a range of great curries, stir fries and salads. It is a small, hole-in-the-wall style restaurant and it is always packed (you will understand why when you taste the food!) so be prepared to wait. We love the thai lemongrass curry and the bikini bowl.

Bay leaf
Bay leaf is also on the main strip of Byron Bay and has several healthy breakfast and lunch options. We tried the green break bowl with kale, buckwheat, avocado and poached eggs which tasted so clean and nourishing. It also happens to be across from Naked Treaties if you can fit in a little raw dessert!

A few other highly recommended places we didn’t have the chance to try were Three Blue Ducks and 100 Mile Table. I’ve heard great reviews about them both so will have to leave them on the list for next time… Always good to have an excuse to go back!
