Tahini may not look that appetising but this creamy, nutty paste packs delicious flavour and nutrition to boot. A rich source of B vitamins, tahini offers a boost in energy and brain function – who doesn’t need more of that?! It works well in both sweet and savoury dishes, so it’s a staple in my pantry. Try these tasty biscuits for healthy grab-and-go snacks all week. This recipe was contributed by the gorgeous Sally O'Neil, founder of The Fit Foodie (@thefitfoodieblog).   • 1 cup almond meal (make this recipe nut-free by swapping the almond meal for brown rice flour)

  • 1 tsp granulated stevia

  • 1/2 tsp baking powder (gluten-free as needed)

  • 1/3 cup tahini (tip: many of the nutrients are found in the husk of the sesame seed so look for unhulled or black tahini which is made by grinding the whole seed)

  • 1 tbsp organic miso paste

  • Water (as needed)

  • 1 tbsp black sesame seeds

  1. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees C.

  2. In a bowl, combine the dry ingredients and make a well in the centre.

  3. Add the tahini and miso paste and mix, then gradually add a little water at a time until a dough forms.

  4. Using your hands, form small dough balls and dip into the sesame seeds.

  5. On a lined baking tray, flatten the balls into round cookies about a centimeter thick and bake for 10 minutes or until golden.

  6. Allow to cool before serving.
