Oven baked sweet potato chips are the perfect healthy alternative to more conventional deep friend potato chips. We add a sprinkle of ground cumin for added flavour, and bake them in coconut oil as it has a higher heat tolerance (meaning that it does not turn into a trans fat). We recommend serving with guacamole and/or tzatiki.

  • 600 grams sweet potato

  • 2 tbsp coconut oil (melted)

  • 1/4 tsp cumin (or to taste)

  • Salt and pepper (to taste)

  1. Preheat oven to 200 degrees C.

  2. Peel kumera and cut into ‘chip’ size pieces.

  3. Place on a lined baking tray.

  4. Lightly coat the chips with 1 tbsp coconut oil, a sprinkle of cumin, salt and pepper.

  5. Bake for 20-25 minutes, then turn the chips over and coat the other side with remaining coconut oil.

  6. Return to oven and bake for a further 10-15 minutes or until crispy.

  7. Season with additional cumin, salt and pepper (to taste) and garnish with mint and rosemary.

  8. Serve with guacamole or tzatziki dip.
