Chocolate Nut Butter Fudge Smoothie

Simple, delicious and decadent smoothie bowl if ever there was one! Breakfast doesn’t get much better than this.

I made this smoothie in my little college room which goes to show just how easy it is to stay healthy with limited space/limited resources. Yes, the ingredients are more expensive than if I had opted for a traditional chocolate shake, but that wouldn’t give my body any of the nutritional benefits that this smoothie offers. It also keeps me feeling full and energised for much longer, so I don’t feel the urge to reach for those mid morning snacks.

It is sweetened purely using whole foods (medjool dates and banana), meaning that I am consuming the fibre as well as the natural sugars inherent in these foods. More information on this can be found in previous blog posts.

1 large serving or 2 small servings

1 frozen banana
1 fresh banana (save 1/2 for topping)
3 tbsp hazelnut butter
3 medjool dates
3 tbsp cacao powder
3/4 cup filtered water
1/8 tsp Himalayan salt
1/2 tbsp chia seeds, optional


  1. Combine all ingredients in a high power blender and blend until smooth
  2. Pour into a bowl and top with buckinis, banana or your choice of fresh fruit
  3. Serve and enjoy!
